Winterize

shirtdress: gap (similar here) // skirt: pixie market (here) // blazer: vintage // jacket: madewell (similar here) // bag: balenciaga// shoes: vince (available here) // sunnies: rayban (similar here) //

Short post today because I'm technically on vacation...but not really, Spring Break for 2 year olds means no time off for mommies but we are at the beach and that's all that matters. Day 17 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "winterize your favorite summer skirt." See you out on the beach :)

New Tuck

top: equipment (on sale here) // jacket: old, loving this one // skirt: vintage givenchy (loving this one) // shoes: valentino (available here) // sunnies: house of harlow 1960 ( similar here) // watch: michael kors (available here

Day 18 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "test out a new tuck." (yes I skipped day 17 because I haven't been shooting in order but it will be up next week).

Its now safe to say I have a thing for vintage skirts. This vintage Givenchy one stopped my heart upon first sight and i knew it would have a welcome place in my wardrobe. I swear folks, they just don't make things like they used to, the quality of this skirt is ridiculous. Can't wait to wear it again.

Monochromatic Brights

dress: gap (available here) // shoes: schutz (available here) // backpack: vintage chanel (loving this one) // sunnies: prada (here) // watch: michael kors (available here

Day 16 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "go monochrome in a bright color".
You've probably noticed I'm not a big fan of dresses…..a. they are almost always too long and b. I can't really run around after a 2 year old in them. However, I have a weakness for anything stripped and when I saw that this dress came in Petite it was game over….it made it through an afternoon at the park including train rides and the sand box…what more can you really ask for?

Day 15 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "create a look with 3 levels of layering." Ok this vest has a built in silk panel that looks like another layer so I technically cheated but whatevs.

And now time to get real…..You might have noticed that I haven't been keeping up with my "new things" lately and honestly I made it through 60 days when life hit me smack dab in the forehead. I've been down in the dumps for several reasons until last week when I heard the best piece of advice that really hit home……. Your mind can only expend so much energy…and if you use it thinking negative thoughts and caring about what people think about you and things you cannot change than all of that negativity takes away from the positive space.  I started visualizing negative thoughts going out of my mind and only concentrating on the positive ones and honestly I feel so much lighter. Doodle and his lightness starting rubbing off on me and the world around me has felt brighter. Yes, we all still have issues we have to deal with on a daily basis….but I'm not going to fill my mind with negative space…..only positive thoughts and lightness.

Printed Favorites

top: madewell (similar here) // denim jacket: gap (similar here) // leather jacket: old, similar here // jeans: current elliott (similar here) // shoes: 10 crosby derek lam (available here) // scarf: alexander mcqueen (available here) // sunnies: ray ban (similar here) // backpack: vintage chanel

Day 14 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "mix 2 or more prints." So…. I actually had a pair of leopard print pants on with this but wasn't really feelin' it so I just threw on all of my favorite pieces, silk check print blouse, McQueen razor blade scarf, worn in boyfriend jeans and killer animal print boots….so actually 3 different prints….boom, done.

A Statement & Layers

dress: torn by ronny kobo (similar here) // kimono: fab'rik (similar here) // shoes: schutz (available here) // bag: 3.1 phillip lim (similar here) // necklace: stella & dot

Day 13 of the Who What Wear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge was "make a neutral outfit interesting by layering and adding statement shoes." And that's exactly what I did to cover last week's Trina Turk fashion show held by the Raleigh Junior League. It was my first event with an actual media pass and I have to say it was exciting to be covering the show from a media aspect. I literally took 300 pictures but narrowed down my favorite looks from the collections. My favorite being a white jumpsuit that I would love to get my hands on.

Also, you guys know how much I harp on having an organized closet….well…I'm doing a "Closet Edit" this Thursday at the Fab'rik in Chapel Hill so if you are in need of a little closet spring cleaning come by and see me!! PS my girl Ellen will doing the same event on Thursday night at the Fab'rik in Cameron Village.
