This past weekend was for my fourth time going to the annual mountain weekend with my husband's family. The first year that I went my husband and I had just started dating and I can't even get into the number of funny stories that happened that weekend. By the second year going my husband and I were married and the Doodle man himself made the trip. Each year is spent taking in the gorgeous scenery, holding a trick or treating session on our hall of the lodge and spending hours at night getting a little too zealous over Catch Phrase and Scatagories. I look forward to the trip because I get to bust out my favorite sweaters, scarves and boots.

I adore the Shawlsmith London scarf in the last picture and thought it was the perfect piece for the mountains. And just for you guys if you enter the code SSL40 you will receive 40% off of your order....that's a win-win in my book. Anywho, see ya Friday skrillas.

Strike a Balance

shirt: stylemint (similar here) // jeans: current elliot (similar here) // coat: gap (available here) // shoes: valentino (available here) // bag: loeffler randall (similar here)

For the last couple of months I have been on the hunt for the perfect camel car coat....so when I found this one and tried it on I knew exactly what I wanted to pair it with. Mixing classic pieces like a camel coat with distressed denim and a casual sweatshirt feels so fresh and exciting right now; its like  striking a balance.

PS stay tuned for Wednesday because I'll be showing some awesome shots I got in the mountains last weekend and I have a special treat for you, happy Monday skrillas.

Creating a Beautiful Life

leather top: all saints (similar here) // blazer: similar here // pants: fab'rik // boots: shoemint (similar here) // bag: madewell (available here)

A lot of times I get caught up in daydreaming about one day living in Paris or Milan or any big city in the world for that matter. And then I snap out of it and remember all of the gorgeous little escapes where I live. Life isn't about wishing you were somewhere else...its about taking advantage of what you have been given. And for me that's affinity for decadent desserts, a beautiful son and incredibly handsome husband, an amazing family and so many places to explore where I live. Also, I'm leaving for our annual mountain trip today so I get a little change of scenery in one of the most gorgeous places you can visit in the fall.....feeling pretty lucky.

Unconventional Fringe

First Outfit: vest worn as dress: vintage burberry (similar here) // shoes: shoemint (similar here) // jacket: gap (similar here) // belt: gap (available here) // clutch: rebecca minkoff (available here) // sunnies: ray ban (available here)
Second Outfit: kimono worn as dress: fab'rik // shoes: sam edelman (available here) // bag: madewell (available here) // sunnies: house of harlow 1960
photos by the amazing molly stillman

I wore both of these ensembles to fashion shows last month and I have to say my favorite part about both of these is that neither "dress" is an actual dress. The first little number is a vintage Burberry wool liner from a trench coat and when I found it I couldn't wait to wear it as a vest but thought it would look really freaking cool belted as a dress. The second look is actually a belted kimono and I can't take credit for this because my girls at fab'rik had the idea to make it into a dress. Its not hard to see I'm crushing on all things fringe right now....and have recently acquired more....oopsies.

Against the Wind

top: fab'rik  // jeans: rag & bone (similar here) // shoes: 3.1 phillip lim (similar here) // bag: louis vuitton // sunnies: ray ban (available here) // earrings: stella & dot

A white button down, distressed denim and leopard oxfords...all you ever need. Lately I've had a greater appreciation for classics with a twist for running around in (literally). Special details like gold buttons and sheer panels make this blouse a new staple in the closet but I loved pairing it with something more rugged like ripped up denim...these were distressed when I bought them but I roll around a lot on the floor with doodle and they have ripped even more....which makes me love them that much more.

Tiger or Sheep?

top worn as dress: 3.1 phillip lim (available here) // jacket: madewell (available here) // boots: piperlime (available here) // bag: vintage gucci// sunnies: prada (available here)

I don't have much to say on the recent phillip lim for Target collaboration (you guys know how much I love my phillip lim) other than I'd rather be a tiger than a sheep...see ya Monday skrillas :)
